Quang Nam. 30th Dec. 2011 – QMT cooperated with Dai Loc District People’s Committee (DPC), Quang Nam province on the inauguration of the Dai Dong Kindergarten – a flood-proof community structure – in Dai Dong commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province.

 


       This is the 42nd of the 47 flood-proof community structures built with funds raised by QMT across Central Vietnam since Mar. 2009, is already put into operation.
       Its construction work started on May 30th , 2011 and it totally cost more than VND 3.1 billion and of which a financial assistance of two billion was provided by Vietnam Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) channeled via QMT and a counterpart fund of VND 1.1 billion contributed by the district. Additionally, Vietcombank also presented the kindergarten with educational facilities valued at VND 150 million.

 


       The kindergarten is comprised of two storeys and eight classrooms meeting national educational standards set by the Ministry of Training and Education and providing a total space of 417, 5 square meters for improving the quality of education for local children and also serving as safe shelter for approximately 200-250 persons to protect from dangerous flood or storm. It is of great significance for Dai Loc district that is considered to be one of flood- prone areas in Central Vietnam.

 


       Addressed at the ceremony, Vietcombank representative extended his thank to QMT for its support to help the bank enable to contribute its financial resources to improving social security, and local authorities at all levels for facilitating the completion of the structure on schedule. He also expressed his hope that the structure would contribute to protecting local people’s life and properties when natural disasters occur.
       On behalf of QMT, Chairman Phan Dien expressed his sincere thanks to Vietcombank for its constant companion with QMT to assist localities in building flood-proof community structures, and his wish to have further donations from Vietcombank for building other structures in future. 
       In 2012, Vietcombank has pledged a donation of VND 8.8 billion to assist localities in Central Vietnam to build four flood-proof community structures including a kindergarten in Dien Loc commune, Dien Chau dist., Nghe An province; an elementary school in Quang Minh commune, Quang Trach dist. Quang Binh province; a kindergarten in Hoa Phuoc commune, Hoa Vang dist. Da Nang City; and a village healthcare center in Hai Thanh commune, Hai Lang dist. Quang Tri province. /.
